The Black Women's Guide to What's Hot Now!

Staging a Black Out

Vogue Italia isn't the only one living in color. Parisian fashion designer Sophie Théallet cast all Black models for her runway debut during New York's Fashion Week. Although Théallet, who worked for famed designer Azzedine Alaïa, had no intention of making a political statement, her show received rave reviews. The collection was as bold and beautiful as her muses. The show opened with a stunning white, ruffled gown then moved on to bold prints and bright colors. Théallet's work speaks for itself boasting feminine dresses with trend-defying style, special attention to details and perfect construction. We can't wait to see what colorful ideas she'll come up with next.

I think that is wonderful that Black models are being recognized. Its tiresome to look at runway shows and fashion magazines and hardly see any women of color. This is a step in the right direction.... ***Sidenote*** Did anyone else buy the Vogue Italia Black issue? If so, did anyone else find it odd that the 99.9% advertisements in the issue featured white models? I was very disappointed....

Thank you Sophie Théallet for showcasing our Black Pearls! It is about time people realize that Black is Beautiful. I can't wait to show this to my 13 year old. She has spent years wishing she was any other race. Now maybe she can appreciate being the BAP that she is. Ella Curry, President of EDC Creations

A countries diversity should be shown for all to see. I'm glad that so far the runways have reflected what beautiful women we all are. I also think that women have paid attention to this dilemma and the 'power of the purse' rules this economy and the economies of the world, now lets work on reciprocation for our dollars.
