We know we are all Gods children but we live in a social setting governed by race. Obviously Halle thinks so otherwise why try to justify her relationship with a white man by dissing the black men in her past. For those who assume to live in a colorless world, good luck. And how do i get there anyway?
Halle's statement on black men is insulting on many levels. There's an implication that because her relationship didn't work out with a couple of black men she had no choice but to love a white man. That's absurd! Many white women date & marry a series of white guys yet you don't see them marrying black guys out of fustration. I think the problem Halle has with black men goes much deeper than "loving" us. Its internal and psychological.
I love Halle. I'm happy for her that she has decided to choose someone who is going to love and build a life with her and her daughter. In England, (where I'm from), we as black women sometimes put too much emphasis on race, looks, symbols of wealth etc; and not on whether he has the grit/desire/determination to really build a solid family. I hope her relationship goes from strength to strength.
