AIDS in Africa: The Pope Questions Prevention

Wrapping it up isn’t enough for the Catholic church’s top dog. Pope Benedict XVI said on his way to Africa this Tuesday that condoms were not the answer in the continent's fight against HIV, according to USA Today. The Pope told reporters aboard his plane to Yaounde that AIDS cannot be resolved with the distribution of condoms but rather with a responsible and moral attitude toward sex. Approximately 22 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are infected with HIV, according to UNAIDS. Senior Vatican officials have advocated fidelity in marriage and abstinence from premarital sex as key weapons in the fight against the deadly infection. —BB

The Pope needs to go back home, and handle their business, with all the Priest that have molested kids, how can they talk about sexual management. They are tripping because they can't go and indoctrinate the people into they pay master system. If you can't help - leave the people along and let them pray their prayers to their concept of God, and let them reach to the world that actually wants to help. go look around the globe, and ask yourself why are so many poor Latin Nation existing yet the Pope's have been collecting their money for centuries. Why don't he go talk to them about drug trade and killings. African nations had their concept of God long before there was a European concept of a Pope. He has a population in many parts of the world, he can administer and do some good- that might be best to do, then trying to determine what will be of Africa, if he is not opening up Vatican Value and spending to build something there, then be quitet, and if he build it don't follow it up with a missionary trying to change people to make the converts, respect their religious belief.. and if he can't do that, then go home and sit down.

Though I consider AIDS a formible foe that we must tackle, why is it that people of color are the face of aids. Are we the only ones that are having sex (unprotected sex)? What about rampant sex in russia, sweden and the other european countries that "do it until it feels good." I'm sick and tired of everybody else profiling us as the AIDS face.
