Rapper Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty to Weapons Charge
Louisiana rapper Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty today to weapon possession and is expected to do one year of jail time, according to the Associated Press. A 40 caliber semi-automatic loaded gun was found on his tour bus in Midtown Manhattan in 2007 after police stopped the vehicle once they saw and smelled marijuana smoke coming through the door minutes before the bus took off.
The rapper, otherwise known as Dwayne Carter is currently No.1 on the pop charts and one of music's most popular artists today. He won a Grammy last year for best rap solo performance for "A Milli."
He will remain free on bail until his sentencing in February but that won't be the end of his legal woes. He is also expected to show up for trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges there. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.
He will now join the growing number of rappers who are or have done time including Tupac Shakur, Lil Kim, Beanie Sigel, Shyne, Mystikal, C-Murder and T.I.--WLW
