The Black Women's Guide to What's Hot Now!

Regina King's 'Southland' Canceled; Sherri Shepherd's 'Sherri' a Hit

You may have been waiting for the return of small screen veteran Regina King to NBC's critically acclaimed "Southland," but the network has other plans. NBC pulled the plug on the cop drama series before its second season return, which was scheduled to debut on October 23 and has six episodes currently in the can. King played Detective Lydia Adams, a no-nonsense but warm cop whose character was set to get more screen time. According to the AP, the show was too gritty for its earlier time slot. It's rumored that "Southland" and King may get another shot on TNT or another cable network. Meanwhile, funny girl Sherri Shepherd is living the good life. According to Nielsen, "Sherri," her Lifetime series loosely based on her own experience as a single mother, paralegal and actress who's dealing with dating after divorce was the most-watched original comedy premiere on the network in more than ten years.—NH

Can't say I'm surprised that Sherri's show is popular. White people always like black folks who make an idiot out of themselves, Go Figure!

Wow did they advertise well? I didn't know Regina had a show. I would surely have supported it. We have to support us. Plus I love her, she's very relate able. And pretty. I hope it gets picked up.

Prodding, Regina King is one of the least type cast black actresses. She's very versatile. The most type casted actress is Paula Jai Parker.
