Summer Cooking Tips

Warm weather, cumulus clouds, and sunny, blue skies are usually accompanied by ice cream by the pool, cookouts at the park, and backyard BBQs. With these hints of summer peeking through, you want to keep your temperature cool and your diet light and your pockets full. Here are five tips to provide variety to your summer food selections while keeping it inexpensive, light, lean, and right.

• Plan ahead prior to going to your local farmers market or grocery store
• To be more cost efficient, purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables - These can be used for your summer desserts, salads, juices and smoothies
• Shop at your local farmers market for inexpensive fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables
• Save money by cooking at home
• Instead of a big heavy burger how about a sliders
