Tube Talk: Chris Rock Does Tyra

The never-ending conversation about our hair continues. The latest? Comedic actor Chris Rock stopped by "The Tyra Show" to discuss his new movie "Good Hair." Tyra and Chris wore surgical masks and safety goggles as a chemist demonstrated what damage the main chemical in many relaxers is capable of doing. Chris joked with Tyra, while suiting up for safety purposes, saying,"You know someday there are going to be so many germs, this is how people are going to have sex!" as he mocked a kiss with the talk show host and former model. Rock also assisted Tyra in removing weaves extensions from a member of her studio audience.--BB

Do you plan to see the movie "Good Hair" this Friday or later this month when it comes to your city?

Look, relaxers, perms whatever, are not healthy for our hair. Neither are hair dyes (which most blondes, Chris Rock and Obama look like they have sometimes). Neither is sun tanning. It causes cancer but people still do it. I don't see anyone making a movie about that. I wonder what his wife thinks about his movie. She's been rocking perms and wigs since when? Rock didn't fall in love with a sister who wears natural hair so shouldn't he and other black men be asking themselves some serious questions about why sisters perm their hair? Look at every successful black man from Rock to Obama to etc. Find one who fell in love with a sister with NATURAL hair. You won't find one. And they wonder why we go through so much.

Black hair needs to be addressed because it is affecting young girls self-esteem. I remember when a relaxer was the worst thing a woman could have done to her hair. Growing up our parents would have never allowed us to put color, weave or any other un-natural product in our hair. Now we don't even bother dealing with little girls hair but would rather slap chemicals in it at the youngest of age (2 Years) yes believe it. How can the young deal with hair issues when us adult don't know the first thing about caring for natural hair but to call it nappy.

i just want to know whats the point of all this is he telling us something we don't know? we know relaxers are dangerous we know some black women wear fake hair so at the end of the day whats the message. no matter what you do to your hair do whatevers works for you? ok, we do that already and heard it before. so he really ain't saying too much of anything that we ain't already heard before.

I do want to see the movie "good hair" but I hope it doesn't put a negative image on Black women being self conscious about our hair.

I'm more interested in the chemist. How could they possibly put this long hair know it all on the show? Dr. Isaccman is well known for having STD's and sharing needles and we're looking to him for safety??? Half the germs he's trying to prevent probably came from off his body. Yet another example of how NYU dropped the ball. P.S. - Word is he's a notorius bed wetter as well....
