Tyler Perry Bringing 'Colored Girls' to the Big Screen
As Tyler Perry prepares for the release of "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" on September 11 and edits the sequel to "Why Did I Get Married?," the movie mogul is already on to his next movie. He will produce, write and direct the big screen version of Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," according to Variety. Shooting for the film will begin in November in Atlanta, with plans to release the movie in 2010. This is the first project for Perry's 34th Street Films and is the first film Perry will work on that is not based on his original material.
Madea will be getting a break as Perry puts his stamp on the Tony-nominated play that continues to speak to the Black community.--CJ
