Colin Powell: Explains Why the GOP Is In Trouble

In a speech to corporate security executives on Monday, May 4, former Secretary of State Colin Powell admitted that the Republican Party is in big trouble and needs to find a way to move its focus back to Middle America, according to AJC.com. Powell explained that the GOP must evolve with the changes exemplified in our country.

Powell also threw a few jabs at fellow Republicans radio host Rush Limbaugh and political talking head Ann Coulter, saying that they are not serving the party well.

Many might remember that Powell made headlines last year when he supported President Obama over Senator John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.—WLW

Do you think there is any hope left for the Republican party?

Obama is a true people person. Powell is not relateable to people at all. We need change, that's what were getting.

They are flailing about as America's also-rans. It was ridiculous putting forward what appears to be a token Black face at the wrong time. PR wise it's all defensive not offensive. They haven't recovered from Palin and are floundering about still sulking with their stupid tea parties. Time for a re think - not that I particularly care.

There is hope for them but only if they CHANGE their narrow minded approach to how to better this country. They first must shut down Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and the other silly talk show hosts who spread hate and division. Then, they must start accepting people are not "just like them". They are off to a horrible start with Michael Steele who has been stripped of a lot of his power. They have a lot of work ahead of them to not be seen as the old white man's party,
