NFL Star Steve McNair Shot Dead
Former NFL star Steve McNair and a woman were found shot to death in a residence in Nashville, Tennessee, according to CNN. The former quarterback was discovered by police after authorities received a call about an injured person. The woman has been identified as Sahel Kazemi.
McNair and Kazemi were both shot in the head, police said. Authorities also said a pistol was found near Kazemi's body. Some have speculated the shooting was a murder-suicide but police have yet to classify the case as such.
According to CNN, the shooting follows a Thursday morning traffic violation involving the two. Kazemi was arrested on DUI charges after being pulled over in a Cadillac Escalade registered to her and McNair. Police have not spoken on the relationship between the two, and have only described Kazemi as McNair's "friend." But a source close to the investigation said the woman is McNair's girlfriend. McNair's wife is said to be "distraught," and is not believed to be connected to the case, police said.
McNair, 36, spent the majority of his 13 seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans. He announced his retirement in April 2008. He spent his last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and he was the NFL's co-MVP in 2003. He leaves behind four sons.—ZH
