Jack and Jill of America Gets Teens Involved in Service
President Obama's request for all Americans to be agents of change by doing their part in their individual communities is starting to reflect in many of the young people across the country. Namely, this June and July, more than 2,500 teenagers from across the country will answer President Obama's "call for action" through the "Jack and Jill of America Inc.'s Teen Conference, Day of Service." These events will allow teens to volunteer their time and provide services through various community activities. Jack and Jill of America Inc.-the nation's oldest and largest African-American family organization - teaches young adults about the morals and values behind volunteering.
"Since 1998, Jack and Jill of America's annual regional Teen Conference Service Projects have instilled volunteerism, philanthropy and community pride in our nation's youth in an effort to develop future leaders and bring service and change to this country," said Jacqueline Moore Bowles, National President of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. "We believe that every child, with proper guidance and opportunity, can be a leader."
The next event will be Friday, July 10 in the Southeastern region where an estimated 450 teens will donate books, school supplies and toiletry items to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Hope House.
