12/4/08 UPDATE: William Balfour was denied bail yesterday in a court appearance. Prosecutors portrayed Balfour as a revenge-seeking jealous lover, according to the Chicago Tribune.

12/3/08 UPDATE: According to attorney Joshua Kutnick, William Balfour will appear in court today for a bail hearing at noon CST. Kutnick said both he and Balfour are looking forward to hearing exactly what evidence the State Attorney's office will present to the judge today.

12/2/08 UPDATE: William Balfour has been officially charged with three counts of first degree murder in the October 24, 2008, deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Hudson, 51, her brother, Jason Hudson, 29, and her 7-year-old nephew Julian King, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law was arrested Monday in the homicide deaths of her mother, brother and nephew, according to the Chicago Tribune. It's been more than a month since the bodies of the singer's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and brother, Jason Hudson, 29, were found in the family's Southside home. Hudson's nephew Julian King, 7, was taken from the home, and his body was discovered days later in a missing SUV.

William Balfour, 27, had been arrested for violation of parole and detained for questioning in the slayings "as a person of interest" at the Stateville Correctional Center but never charged. On Monday, Chicago police issued a warrant for his arrest and now have him in custody. Balfour is the estranged husband of Hudson's older sister, Julia, and the stepfather of her son Julian. Balfour served a seven-year prison sentence for a 1999 attempted murder and vehicular hijacking conviction.

On Monday, Balfour's mom, Michelle Davis-Balfour, continued to declare his innocence to local reporters, according to ABC News.

"If they found gun powder on his hands, you got a case; if they found a gun on him, he had a case; if they found a fingerprint on the truck that he did this, you got a case; but they don't have nothing," Davis-Balfour said.
