Kansas City Teacher Suspended For Showing Obama YouTube Video

A Kansas City middle school teacher was suspended after a video was posted on YouTube showing his students pledging political allegiance to Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama, according to the Kansas City Star. The group of young males (many Black) were dressed in T-shirts and camouflage pants, marching in fraternity like formation, chanting praises to Obama. They attend Urban Community Leadership Academy, a project-based learning charter school that helps about 300 high-risk students in the fifth through ninth grades. In the choreographed video, the boys shouted out how Obama has inspired them to pursue their personal dreams. The video was created in May while Senators Hillary Clinton and Obama were competing for the Democratic nomination, but was only recently posted.

I totally agree with the others. This is not right for them to suspend the teacher for his own personal views. This kind of stuff should remind us that this country is still full of hatered. They contradict themselves "land of the free, home of the brave" Please! I believe that Obama as President will make many changes, but the true change will be when the God reveals that He is Lord of lords and King of kings.

Whatever you do on your time, as long as you remain professional, you should be able to do as you please, without fear of harassment. We still live in a country that is free. This country is in turmoil today because we have officals both state and federal that want to play God and control what you do and say. Yes this is an example of why prayer is no longer in schools. someone decided they would play God. If Our elected officals would stick to policy, we would have a much better world. There is much more to be said on this issue, just not enough time or space.

I think this sounds a bit to familiar. First representing God in our schools was removed, now kids being proud to see that a man with similar skin color provides hope to the past history of many of our fallen brothers and sisters, our enchanted slaves and ancestors who've paved away. These kids have something to believe in and a leader standing up for rights is now being punished, not fair by a long shot. Men are molesting kids with strong evidence yet they have not been suspended. Not FAIR!!!! Only God Knows where this world is headed. I'm just and Angel working for my father in heaven- I still believe this is not fair.....Maybe my flesh is in the way of unforseen judgements ......hmmmm.....Lord please have your way!!!!

I agree that teachers have to watch what they do, even during their own spare time. The teachers represent their school they're employed by. In this situation, the middle school teacher obviously was supporting Obama which, in my opinion, no different from having political stickers on the back of your car. This whole campaign has gotten so many Americans up tight that the McCain supporters and Obama supporters are constantly disputing each other and worse yet, finding ways to hurt one another as in suspending a Kansas middle school teacher.
