Star-Studded Crowd Comes Out for 'This Is It'

UPDATE 10/28/09: Michael Jackson's much anticipated movie premiered to a star-studded crowd last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Celebs such as Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Neil Patrick Harris, Paris Hilton and Paula Abdul were on hand for the screening of "This Is It," according to People.com. There had been talk that none of the Jacksons would be at the event, but all of Michael's brothers (who received a standing ovation before the film began) were in attendance. "We had to be here to support my brother's work," Jermaine Jackson told People. "They say this is it, but this is just the beginning." None of the Jackson sisters were there; nor were Katherine or Joe Jackson. "It was a sad moment, but we had to support our family," said Jackie Jackson. The King of Pop's three children will view the film in a private screening, Jackie added. —ZH

Is Signature on Michael Jackson's Will a Fake?

UPDATE 10/23/09: The battle over control of Michael Jackson's estate produced another bombshell on Friday, with questions surrounding the authenticity of Jackson's signature on his will, according to TMZ. The news came from Londell McMillan, who also corrected a report that he was one of the lawyers Katherine Jackson fired. Randy Jackson claims his brother could not have signed the will, which was dated July 2, 2002, in Los Angeles, because he was in New York that day, reports TMZ. This is the first time the family has challenged the will's legitimacy in court.—ZH

Katherine Jackson Fires Lawyers

UPDATE 10/23/09: Katherine Jackson fired lawyers Burt Levitch and Londell McMillan, who were helping her gain control of son Michael's estate, but her new attorney missed an important hearing where the judge gave more power to the men she is opposing, according to CNN.com.

Katherine's new lawyer is Adam Streisand, an expert in Los Angeles probate cases. "The family came to a decision before they called me," Streisand said. "They felt they needed a different perspective and fresh look at how this case was being approached."

However, Streisand showed up at court late on Thursday, just minutes after L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff closed a hearing in which he granted estate special administrators John Branca and John McClain for more authority to make deals on behalf of Jackson's estate. "I want this estate to move forward and I want these creditors to be dealt with," Beckloff said. "And while we are proceeding in this posture, I want Mrs. Jackson to have information about what is going on and I don't want to be in court all the time."—ZH

Former Lawyer Sues Jackson for $3 Million

UPDATE 10/20/09: Michael Jackson's ex-lawyer wants $3 million from the King of Pop's estate—and an apology. According to TMZ, attorney Sidney Lanier represented Jackson in several cases including a hotly contested case in 2005 involving former porn king and Jackson confidant Marc Schaffel. After the case, Jackson refused to pay the lawyer's fee and filed a lawsuit against Lanier claiming fraud. Lanier says MJ's suit sullied his reputation and he even goes on to say that he wishes Jackson hadn't died because he "wanted him to apologize for his action against me; because of his tragic death that can never happen."
