New Research Finds Most African-American Women Are Lactose Intolerant
A new survey found that a whopping 78 percent of African-American women are lactose intolerant and as a result, reduce the amount of dairy they intake daily. The Lactose Intolerance in Multicultural Communities Survey sponsored by the LACTAID Brand found that despite this high number of women only 16 percent have spoken to their doctors about getting the proper doses of vitamins A and D from what they are missing from drinking milk.
Anyone who is lactose intolerant knows the concern behind drinking anything that contains milk or milk by products. LACTAID realized there is a greater need for understanding how to manage the condition without forgoing milk. They've partnered with celebrity chef and restaurant owner, Delilah Winder for ways to safely incorporate dairy back into our diet.
"Although I am lactose intolerant, milk and dairy products are an important part of my diet. I rely on LACTAID Milk to ensure I drink real, delicious milk everyday and consume the nutrients necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle," said Winder. "In my house, no family gathering is complete without sweet potato pie because managing lactose intolerance doesn't mean we have to give up on our favorite traditional soul food dishes."--WLW
